Beginning Of II
Some ol’ friends know of XE (Xilon Engine); It started as a beginning point for me to design a game engine for Visual Basic 6 and DirectX 8.1. After revision and revision I never really released it for the public. I later upgraded and redesigned it for the VB.NET 2005 world; Learning .NET programming as I went. The code had a lot of VB6 feel to it. It was also never released, and for sure will never see the light of day for public use.
I come to tell you about my latest try at making a simple game engine to maybe see the light of day. XEII (Xilon Engine 2) will not be limited with just 2D space but I’m moving into the 3D world with the engine; The main focus of this engine will still be in the 2D genre but I like to take a breath into 3D. The start of XEII will only have 2D functionality but 3D will grow as I go.
You have to remember I have a full-time job so I have short time spans to work on this engine as it is not currently my primary project. I will of course post as much as possible about the progress.

Wow, I’ve never seen so many comments from you in one snippet of code, lol, only kidding of course. As someone who has seen a lot of the original Xilon engine functionality, and the amazing Metroid-type game I’m excited for the second Xilon engine. I think using SourceForge or http://code.google.com/hosting/ from Google. Would get a lot of exposure and ideas for features.
Best of luck with the project,
-Brad
